PETRAS welcomes DH READY as Innovator-In-Residence
The PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity has appointed DH READY, a communications & innovation agency as Innovator-in-Residence at UCL STEaPP.
DH READY, led by Duane Holland, one of the UK’s leading strategic thinkers in digital futures and public engagement, will support PETRAS’ mission to make society more secure and resilient in a digital world by fast-tracking the centre’s industrial growth in the UK and internationally.
With the explosion in the Internet of Things (IoT) expected to rise to over 41.6bn connected devices by 2025, generating an expected 79.4 zettabytes (ZB) of data (International Data Corporation), there is a greater need to accelerate cybersecurity research and innovation into market, faster. Holland will lead on a Strategic User Partner Exchange Review (SUPER) and brings a fresh viewpoint to the centre’s leadership team with his diverse experience advising innovative Fortune 500 companies, global brands, academic institutions and start-ups; assembling cross-discipline specialists to solve complex challenges; and developing innovative communication and public engagement campaigns that tap into emerging culture.
Duane said, “From mobile phones and smart home energy meters, to autonomous cars and connected cities, IoT is reshaping how people live today and tomorrow. Along with new opportunities for better connectivity comes a greater threat from hackers. I’m excited to continue my work in finding new ways to accelerate pioneering intelligence and innovation into commerce, creativity and culture, and privileged to once again work alongside some of the world’s leading researchers and businesses committed to making a positive impact in society.”
The four-month residency was awarded by UCL Innovation & Enterprise and supported by EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA).
