This project is focussed on gaining a better understanding of what factors influence individual and corporate users’ behaviour with respect to actions that can mitigate risks from Cyberattack, particularly as these relate to the Internet of Things (IoT). Related questions include how risk is perceived and reacted to, and what thresholds apply concerning the visibility, severity and frequency of risks. Factors that can influence these behavioural norms will be identified, leading to the design of interventions spanning policy, media and technologies.
Target outcomes:
- To better understand factors that influence the perception of Cyber risk where transactions are between machines rather than humans
- To understand thresholds for reaction and pro-action in the presence of IoT Cyber threats
- To establish strategies for designing and evaluating interventions that support individual and corporate behaviours to improve cybersecurity and better online protection.
