Internet of Things (IoT) technologies need to identify and re-identify customers (e.g. in order to tailor services or interact successfully with them) while protecting their privacy. This project will collaborate with EE, BT, Cisco, Eurofins Digital Testing, MEVALUATE, SOGETI, and ZTE CORPORATION in order to work on robust solutions that can deliver a successful balance between identifiability and privacy. During the first phase, the project will landscape and evaluate current “identifying” technologies, protocols, and procedures (across the industrial partners), which aim at protecting customers’ privacy. During the second phase, it will analyse the best strategies and develop and validate effective guidelines for responsible innovation in identification management with regard to IoT products and services.
Target Outcomes:
- Assess BT’s, EE’s, Eurofins Digital Testing’s, and ZTE corporation’s identifying technologies, protocols, and procedures with respect to the protection of users’ privacy;
- Define ethical guidelines for responsible innovation and design of identifying technologies. The guidelines will be endorsed by the research partners involved in this project.
