Communicating Research Effectively with Katy Chenoweth
PETRAS Community Development Event
Date: Monday 4 July 2022 & Thursday 14 July 2022
Time: 13.30-15.00
This event, led by Katy Chenoweth (Universal Impact/The Conversation), is a bespoke training course, highly personalised and interactive, designed to develop a pool of researchers within PETRAS, who would have the skills to better communicate and promote their research more widely.
The course would help researchers develop skills to ‘translate’ complex research into succinct pieces that are accessible and engaging to non-specialist audiences. The course would cover the importance of sharing research with a wide range of audiences (specifically, PETRAS’s target audiences); how to identify target audiences and tailor research to their needs; how to transform research findings into a compelling narrative; the characteristics of an engaging and compelling narrative; and the ways in which they can broaden their research profile through social media, writing for international publications and communicating with policymakers.
