At the recent ‘Living in the IoT’ event  IoTUK partnered with PETRAS and the IET to produce a successful Exhibition and Forum element to the proceedings.

This IoTUK led element was a fantastic opportunity to explore key partnerships in the programme, with academia, industry, the NHS IoT test beds and exciting projects such as CityVerve.

A programme of talks included a range of speakers, from Caroline Gorski’s fantastic exploration of whether we’re ready for the future enabled by IoT; an old-school and timely debate on data privacy and its impact on business; and a discussions on IoT ecosystems, from Manchester’s smart city project to ones around the world

The IoTUK stand was a draw for many interested parties from across PETRAS and beyond. Our VR exploration of the ecosystems around Rolls Royce, PETRAS, Invisible Systems and IoT Tribe in Barnsley proved to be a big hit, particularly with the impact champions from PETRAS keen to demonstrate the effectiveness of the programme and the 1100 businesses connected to the work that they are doing. You can see what we have learned from the data in the IoT Nation 2018 report.

Another popular hit was the VR bike run by the lovely Billy White from Clicks and Links on the CityVerve stand.

The final talk of the day, delivered with the usual pizazz by Chris Speed, Paul Coulton, and Anab Jain – was chaired by Andrex, a portmanteau of Google’s operating system and Amazon’s smart interface personified by a loo roll.

A great fun event and lots of brilliant connections made over the two days.
