PETRAS and the Institute of Engineering Technology(IET) have joined forces to run a webinar series on the Internet of Things (IoT) and COVID-19 related topics.

The events bring together world leading experts in academia, industry and government to discuss the many implications of COVID-19 and the IoT. Covering issues including cybersecurity, privacy and ethics on topics such as contact tracing apps, the changes in how we work and the lessons learnt for governments around the world on how digital technology can help to tackle COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has stimulated governments to put in place digital contact tracing systems, combining the digital world and public health, in an unprecedented way. It is only by collecting data and sharing information that we can learn good practice in fighting epidemics. Digital technology has also developed rapidly in tackling the pandemic during this time period. But how can we become more effective in fighting the virus?
